The Limes

Grade 2 Listed former council building. An outstanding new development with a focus on quality design and sustainability!

The Limes dates back to 1860s – The original farmhouse building with a lime wash front section encompassing the listed building section.

The property has been in the possession of Swindon Borough Council for over 80 years. It’s had a 60’s addition to the property and has had many uses from a Children Homes, Youth Assessment Centre and Social Services.

William Arthur Property purchased the property in May 2020. The Limes redevelopment offers a unique opportunity to improve and enhance the site whilst protecting the special inherent features of the building and surrounding areas.

The Limes site is located within the urban area of Swindon, less than 2 miles north of the town centre.

Stratton is a well established residential area, with a good secondary school at its heart.

The area offers good rental and sale prospects for the development.

The Limes is located on Green Lane which has Cottages dating back to the 1700s.

Proposed Plans

We want to embrace the land and the house and not over develop the site. We’re looking to demolish the single story building known as the pear tree lodge. Sympathetically restore the main building into five 1 bedroom units in the main building. Turning the dated 60s extension into a contemporary, modern wood cladded building to patch the proposed new builds on the land to the rear.

The new building will be 3 bedroom family homes for many generations to enjoy!
